Director of Human Rights Department: Interfaith Dialogue an Indispensable Mechanism for Communication between Societies

HE Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Turki bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud participated today in a session on introduction to international human rights relating to religion and belief during “Conference From Religious Freedom to Religious Responsibility (Building Communities of Advocacy and Action)”. The conference is organized by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue in partnership with the Multi-Faith Neighbors Network in the United States of America.

In a speech during the session, His Excellency stressed that the State of Qatar regards the dialogue of religions and civilizations as an indispensable mechanism for building bridges of communication between societies and peoples to achieve peace and stability.

His Excellency explained that the State of Qatar is known today as a strong advocate of interfaith dialogue, intercultural cooperation and peacebuilding, and a world leader in advancing it, thanks to the Qatar National Vision 2030 which promoted respect for cultures and religions as well as the importance of dialogue to build bridges between peoples. He pointed out that the State of Qatar has become home to a large number of people of different faiths and religions from more than 100 different nationalities and religions, adding that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 constituted a convergence of different peoples under the umbrella of security, peace and coexistence.
