Senior Afgan Leaders met in Doha (Qatar) from 17-18 July 2021, under the auspices of the State of Qatar.
They have agreed on the need to accelerate their negotiations so as to bring as soon as possible a fair and lasting solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.
They recognize the need to reach a settlement that responds to the interests and aspirations of all the men and women of Afghanistan in the light of Islamic principles.
They are committed to remaining engaged in the negotiations at a senior level until such a settlement is reached; and for the purpose they will reconvene. Meanwhile, The leaders of the two sides have instructed their respective delegations to accelerate the negotiations.
All sides will ensure that civilian infrastructure is protected, prevent civilian casualties and cooperate on humanitarian assistance throughout Afghanistan. In view of the dramatic expansion of the COVID-19 pandemic in Afghanistan, they will take all appropriate measures for the security of vaccination personnel, and will ensure the unimpeded transport and delivery of oxygen and other inputs required for COVID-19 treatment in a transparent manner for the people who are in need throughout Afghanistan.
The two delegations appreciate the State of Qatar for its generous assistance in achieving a lasting peace in Afghanistan. They also thank the neighboring and regional countries as well as the international community for their cooperation in the peace process.
