FIRST ARAB STATES REGIONAL SOUTH-SOUTH DEVELOPMENT EXPO

Director of the Department of International Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammad Al Meraikhi has stressed the importance of Qatar participation in the First Arab States Regional South-South Development EXPO which aims to enrich the international continued dialogue on sustainable development before and after 2015.


Speaking at a press conference held today on the occasion said that all participants in the EXPO are keen to come out with a number of recommendations that benefit the future of development cooperation and to establish a mechanism to implement these recommendations. He noted the exhibition is a result of cooperative efforts between the State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations, represented by its office for cooperation between the countries of the South.
He added the Expo is expected to me out with initiatives and proposed solutions.


He said that the conference brings together more than 450 participants from governments, international organizations, specialized agencies, civil society organizations, the Arab League, and the Islamic Bank to review experiences and solutions to the most important issues and challenges that facing the Arab region, especially in areas of the empowerment of women and youth, food security, and renewable energy.The three-day conference also aims to deepen the dialogue on trilateral and multilateral cooperation, he noted.
