Local Delegation Off to Qatar for 12th Doha Interfaith Dialogue Conference

A delegation from Brunei Darussalam left for Doha, Qatar last evening to attend the 12th Doha Interfaith Dialogue Conference which will be held on February 16-17, 2016.


The Sultanate will be represented by Dayang Fauzana Octavia binti Haji Ali, Charge d' Affaires, Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Qatar; Awang Mohd Nawawi bin Haji Bolhasan, Special Duties Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Awang Haji Mas Reduan bin Haji Jumat, Senior Religious Officer, Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB); and Reverend Andrew Shie of St Margaret's Church and St James' Church.


The conference whose theme is "Spiritual and Intellectual Safety in the Light of Religious Doctrines" aims to pave the way for religious leaders to address the issue on the misuse of religion and to project the authentic doctrines of their religions that will help to reduce current conflicts among people.


Among those who will attend the international conference are academicians, representatives from non-government organisations (NGOs), religious leaders of different faiths and community leaders.


Brunei Darussalam has participated in the 10th and 11th Doha Conference in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

The Sultanate's representatives have also attended other interfaith meetings held around the world under the purview of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and others.
