Preparation Steps
1- Basic
Information
The Sixth International Conference on New or Restored Democracies
(ICNRD-6) will be held in the Conference Centreو near
Doha's Sheraton Hotel, between Oct .29 – 1 Nov. 2006 as follows:
A- The
Opening Session will be held at Al-Dafnah Hall on Sunday 29 Oct.
2006 at 19:00 pm evening. All participants from among Parliaments,
representatives of Governments, and the Civil Society will take
part in this session.
B-
Representatives of governments will continue their activities at
Al-Dafnah Hall # (1) and Al-Maha Hall of Sheraton Hotel on Monday
and Tuesday 30-31 Oct. 2006, respectively.
C-
Representatives of Parliaments will continue their activities at
Al-Dafnah Hall (2) and Al-Ameeriyya Hall ,on Monday and Tuesday 30
and 31 0ct. 2006 at Al-Dafnah Hall (2) and Al-Ameriya Hall.
D-
Representatives of Civil Society will continue their activities at
Al-Majlis and Al-Rayyan Halls on Monday and Tuesday 30 and 31 0ct.
2006, respectively.
E- All
participants and representatives will attend the final session
that will be held at Al-Dafnah Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 1st, 2006,
at 16:00 pm.
The Conference Centre, which is attached to the Sheraton Hotel
Complex, is situated at a distance of 5 km. from Doha City Centre.
During the past two decades, Qatar has been noted for its offering
first class hosting of international events, sports and cultural
occasions, and cutting-edge conference-organization services and
security, in addition to offering quality services in instant
translation and documentation.
2- Arrival
of Delegations and Guests
At Doha Airport:
Participating delegations will arrive at the airport on 28/29
October 2006 through the following halls:
- Ministerial Hall,
- V.I.P. Hall,
- Public Hall
- Civil escorts and
representatives of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs will receive all members of the official
delegations: representatives of governments, parliaments, and
civil society, journalists, academies, etc, … at the specified
halls of Doha International Airport.
Special desks and
arrangements have been made in order to ease formalities and
procedures of checking passports, customs and luggage delivery.
Embassies of the U.N.'s state-members that have diplomatic
missions in Doha are required to inform the National Organizing
Committee of the Conference of the names of officials designate??/
To follow up related affairs in order to ease the process of
issuing airport entrance permits to help delegations.
In order to
provide all those states that have no embassies at Doha with the
required support, the State of Qatar has trained a special working
team for this effect.
Furthermore, there will
be an official Protocol desk in order to take care of
participants' inquiries and needs before, during and after the
Conference.
3- Luggage.
A special committee consisting
of representatives of customs and other governmental
establishments will work together along with representatives of
the Diplomatic Missions of the participating states who are
working in Qatar in order to facilitate the process of luggage
delivery.
The committee will also help
the official delegations of the U.N. state members which have no
embassies in Qatar.
4- Tourist
Data.
There will be a special
office for Qatar Tourism Authority on the location of conferences
and mass media in order to furnish the participants with any
required piece of information on tourism.
The Hotels which are
assigned for the Conference will advertise the names of the
nearest shopping centers that are open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Those hotels will render
the best services to their guests of the ICNRD-6 participating
delegations, such as restaurants, cafés and other available
facilities.

Facilities at Conference Halls
The halls of the conference are
to be furnished with state of the arts technology facilities such
as computers, internet access, printers, faxes, telephones,
photocopiers and other required equipment.
6- Working
Languages at the conference.
Arabic, English, French and
Spanish languages will be used at the conference since they are
the working languages at the U.N.
Interpretation and translation services will be available during
the sessions of the conference. All required facilities and
necessary equipment could be provided to the delegations’
accompanying translators and interpreters in the main halls (Al
Dafna Hall, Dafna 1, Dafna 2, and Al Majlis Hall).
*** Special desks and arrangements have
been made in order to ease formalities and procedures of checking
passports, customs and luggage delivery. In order to to help
delegations, Embassies of the U.N.'s State-members that have
diplomatic missions in Doha are required to inform the National
Organizing Committee of the Conference of the names of the
officials designated by their embassies to follow up related
affairs, in order to ease the process of issuing airport entrance
permits .
