Need to strengthen Qatar, Turkey ties

HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister, yesterday inaugurated the 19th International Business Forum (IBF) Congress at Qatar National Convention Center. The Prime Minister also opened the second High Tech Port Fair and toured different wings where he was briefed on the most important products available.
He stressed the need to strengthen joint cooperation between Qatar and Turkey in this area.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of three-day event, H E Major General Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, said that there is an increasing need for unifying international efforts to ease the process of transfer of advanced technology and expressed hope that the forum will be a step in that direction.

He said the conference aims to boost and develop the deep ties between Qatar and Turkey. The event he said will play a crucial role in further strengthening cooperation in the economic and commercial field and increasing the trade exchange between the two countries. It will also help in building bridges of communication between businessmen in both countries to discuss investment and commercial opportunities, and evaluate potential cooperation in the industry of security technology and advanced defence technology.


Addressing participants at the event, the Minister said that the outcome of the conference will be a great addition to economy and advanced technology and a reference for future economic cooperation between the two countries.
The 2nd High Tech Port Exhibition is a high-level, advanced and strategic technology exhibition by Musiad Qatar, while the annual IBF aims to build trade and investment bridges between the public and private sectors. Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (Musaid) is a "businessmen’s association" of Turkey.


Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan believes the strategic ties between Turkey and Qatar have reached a high level of strength and are developing every day and open new opportunities for both countries, Turkish Ambassador to Qatar Ahmad Dimerok said on behalf of the president.


He noted that many meetings that will take place during the conference will provide opportunities for participant states to know each other well and raise confidence among them.
Vecdi Gonul, the Minister of Defence, Turkey, said that the Middle East is the most strategic region in the world and Qatar has become one of the most important nations in the Middle East. He added that Qatar is a leading Arab country trying to solve conflicts in the region.
