Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday attended the opening session of the 16th Doha Forum at the Doha Sheraton. The three-day Forum is being held under the title “Stability and Prosperity for All”. The opening ceremony was also attended by Yemeni President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi, Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou, President of Mauritius Dr Ameenah Gurib, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon and a number of other top leaders. The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani was also present. The three-day Forum is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with local and international research and study centers. Presidents, international personalities, businessmen and academics are participating in the forum, in which 58 experts will speak on different issues like economy, energy , security and defence.
The Emir met with President Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi on the sidelines of the Forum. The two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and ways of strengthening them and discussed the latest developments on the Yemeni arena as well as a number of topics on the Forum’s agenda. The Emir also met with President Mahamadou Issoufou, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and President Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim and discussed bilateral relations and other issues of common interest. The Emir also met with President of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft. Discussions dealt with the latest developments on regional and international levels as well as a number of topics on the Forum’s agenda. The Emir met with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Argentina Susana Malcorra, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Energy and Mines of the Dominican Republic Antonio Emilio Conde, Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs of the of the Republic of Singapore Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Carolyn B Maloney, a member of the US House of Representatives, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Costa Rica Manuel Gonzalez and Rachida Dati, a former French Minister of Justice, member the European parliament and Mayor of the 7th Arrondissement of Paris.
