DOHA: Assistant Foreign Minister for Follow-Up Affairs H E Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, who is also the head of the National Organising Committee of the second south summit for the Group 77 and China, has underlined the significance of summit be hosted by Qatar on June 15-16.

The summit will discuss vital economic, trading and development topics that will serve the interests of the peoples of the member countries of the group, he said. The Minister highlighted the pioneer role Qatar plays at both international and regional levels which enables it to hold this summit in Doha, after the first summit which was held in Cuban capital, Havana.

Al Rumaihi noted the hosting of this summit in Doha will place Qatar once again in the centre of the events in terms of international affairs matters whether they are political or economic issues as well as will make it possible to come out with effective and positive resolutions in interest of this important part of the world (south) which includes 132 countries varies from underdeveloped to developed and developing countries.

He said the summit will discuss ways to achieve development as well as ways of upgrading the standards in education, health, economy and industry domains in a way that would push forward the development process to the highest levels. He stressing that these are the remarkable services and big events that Qatar has always been making efforts towards achieving them.

On his expectations of the results of the summit, Al Rumaihi said the Second South Summit for the G77 and China will come out with Doha communique as well as topics tabled on agenda, noting that the Doha communiqu will be political and economic statement, that will express a number of demands, recommendations and hopes to be addressed to the world’s countries and the international organisations as well as to themselves in order to enhance and promote political, economic and trade cooperation among them.
